If you pay for ads that get people to message you on WhatsApp, you want to know which of those chats actually go somewhere. ContactFlow keeps the ad behind every conversation and, each time the lead moves forward in your funnel, tells Meta about it. You see which campaigns bring in good leads, and Meta learns to find more people like them.

  1. 01

    Ad

Someone taps your click-to-WhatsApp ad and messages you.

  2. 02

    Chat

The chat arrives with its ad attached, so your team sees it from the first message.

  3. 03

    Stage

The lead moves through your funnel, by hand, with an automation or with the AI.

  4. 04

    Meta learns

ContactFlow sends Meta that stage's event along with the ad click, so your campaigns learn which ads bring in good leads.

Every stage you report helps Meta understand which ads bring you good leads.

When someone messages you from an ad

The first message comes in with a From ad card showing the ad's image, headline and text, so your team knows right away what the person saw. The card also stays in the contact panel, in case someone picks up the conversation days later.

Each ad also gets its own entry in Lists → Ads, with its leads grouped by stage, so you can see where everyone who came from that ad stands.

This works with click-to-WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger ads.

What ContactFlow tells Meta

You choose which stages get reported by giving each one a Meta event. When a lead enters that stage, ContactFlow sends the event right away, whether someone on your team, an automation or the AI moved it.

Where the event goes depends on how the lead found you:

  • From a click-to-WhatsApp ad: the event carries the ad click and goes to your WhatsApp messaging dataset. You don't have to look for it; ContactFlow finds it when you connect WhatsApp.
  • Any other way: it goes to the dataset you connect in Meta Conversions.

Each event includes its name, the time, and the contact's phone or email, hashed with SHA‑256 as Meta requires. For leads from click-to-WhatsApp ads, it also includes the click. The conversation's messages are never part of it.

The lead's History logs every send as Sent, Failed or Skipped, so you can check what happened with each one.

How to set it up

  1. Connect WhatsApp in Channels → Integrations. That alone lets you report leads from click-to-WhatsApp ads.
  2. To also report leads that reach you some other way, connect Meta Conversions with your dataset ID and an access token. The panel shows you where to find both in Events Manager.
  3. Go to Automations → Funnel State, open a stage and pick the Meta CAPI event it sends when a lead enters. Under Report, choose whether it applies to all leads, only leads from ads, or only leads from other sources.

Which events you can send

For leads from click-to-WhatsApp ads you can send Lead and QualifiedLead. Meta receives Lead as LeadSubmitted, so that's the name you'll see in Events Manager.

With Meta Conversions connected, you can send Lead, QualifiedLead, Schedule, DealerVisit, SubmitApplication, Approved, DemoCompleted and StartTrial for every other lead.
